April Showers

Today the skies can't decide what to do. It was sunny when I awoke, sprinkling by the time I got outside. Then it hailed, hard and fast. Sun, rain, wind...

By the time I got to the top of the hill, the sun was in a bright blue patch in the center of the sky, surrounded by clouds of various colors.

Signs of Spring

Today was a lovely, peaceful day, in spite of the big clouds. Just look at all the leaves  on the trees!

There seems to be a transition zone in the clouds, from the middle of the upper picture. To the left is all fluffy clouds, to the right the layers, continuing in the lower picture.

But it is only partly cloudy, with an interesting shape in the space between the clouds.

Red currents and red elderberries. Beautiful early bloomers.

Moon Magic

I was sitting at the computer when Jesse the Samoyed yipped a complaint. He's old, and needs help getting up. I walked outside, to be greeted by the lovely large moon.

I got Jesse up and on his way, and went for the camera. Who can resist taking photos when the moon comes calling?

Fog Rising

This morning dawned clear, but very soon the fog from the valley started rising. I really enjoy these low clouds that make cloud lakes, although I will be very happy to have the fog burn off sometime today!

Sunny, Sunny Day

After a few foggy days it is a joy to be looking down on the clouds again.

Cool Clouds

The sky seemed very sea-like to me this afternoon, filled with interesting patterns and life forms.

Gratitude

I've been feeling very grateful today for light winds, fluffy clouds, and gentle sunshine.

Interlude

The day started sunny and bright, and stayed that way. The sun warmed things enough that it felt, and looked, like Spring. It was a glorious break from our usual wet winter weather.

When I went up to the power lines to retrieve my Alpaca, I stopped to enjoy the view. It was apparent that the good weather would be short lived - clouds were advancing from every direction, determined to set the weather right.

Between the Rains

After one of the wettest days I can remember, this morning's sky is a welcome relief. The sun even made a brief appearance. I love the motion in the clouds - and the lack of rain.

More Moon

I love that the skies usually clear up for the full moon. I'm still experimenting with the new camera; here are 3 pictures taken in quick succession with three different settings.

The Moon and Jupiter

After days of dense fog, today was gloriously clear and sunny. Just in time to catch the moon closing in on Jupiter. They stand out in the early evening sky, doing the celestial dance.

Mountains and Clouds

After days of thick, cold fog the sun is out and the world is again light and bright, with some very interesting cloud formations and beautiful mountains in full view.
