Good Morning Spring!

Signs of Spring

Today was a lovely, peaceful day, in spite of the big clouds. Just look at all the leaves  on the trees!

There seems to be a transition zone in the clouds, from the middle of the upper picture. To the left is all fluffy clouds, to the right the layers, continuing in the lower picture.

But it is only partly cloudy, with an interesting shape in the space between the clouds.

This morning dawned clear, but very soon the fog from the valley started rising. I really enjoy these low clouds that make cloud lakes, although I will be very happy to have the fog burn off sometime today!

After a few foggy days it is a joy to be looking down on the clouds again.

Near the end of a rainy day the sun appeared to highlight the colors of the changing leaves.

After one of the wettest days I can remember, this morning's sky is a welcome relief. The sun even made a brief appearance. I love the motion in the clouds - and the lack of rain.

After days of thick, cold fog the sun is out and the world is again light and bright, with some very interesting cloud formations and beautiful mountains in full view.

Coming Change

The last few cold, clear days have been lovely, with all the mountains in top form. The light covering of snow makes everything pretty and bright.

While I was doing the afternoon feeding, clouds came rushing in from the west.

Before long they covered most of the sky. 

I'm still getting used to the new camera, so please excuse the focus. Mt. Rainier was too beautiful to pass up, even if it is a bit fuzzy.

Golden light shines through the crack in the sky.

The River

Visiting my friends on the Cowlitz River is always a joy, with good companionship and a lovely, wildlife-filled view.

This group of Goldeneye Ducks kept flying upriver and floating back down. The area in front of the house seems to be desirable, but the current is very strong and the ducks get whisked downstream.

A group of Canada geese were also hanging about. They seem slightly less affected by the current. I haven't figured out how to get my new camera to focus on what I want, so please forgive the fuzziness.

Cleaning fish (yum!) - trout today. The winds have blown this moss into some beautiful patterns. It is everywhere, this close to the river.
