Looking for Spring

After two stormy, windy, rainy days, I decided I needed to go look for spring. I grabbed my camera and set out.

Just behind the house there is an Indian Plum actually in bloom. As I walked towards it I noticed it's subtle sweet scent. This lovely shrub is the first to leaf out in spring.

And the ever-present moss and lichen covered stumps! I miss the tall, ancient trees that should abound here, but I love their remnants, the many stumps remaining from the last two times this land was clear cut. This winter has been a boon to mosses.
